Glovokai Address Transliteration

Privacy Policy

Last updated 6 November 2026

This policy explains what personal data the Glovokai: Address Translation app and the glovokai.com website collect, why, and what rights you have. It applies to merchants who install the app and to their customers whose orders the app processes.

1. Who we are

Glovokai is run by Freddy Nicholas Bruce, a sole trader in the United Kingdom, trading as Glovokai (“we”, “us”). Business address: 1a Kingsbury's Lane, Ringwood, BH24 1EL, United Kingdom. Contact: support@glovokai.com.

We play two roles under UK and EU data protection law (UK GDPR and EU GDPR):

  • Controller for merchant account data: the details of the Shopify store and the people who install and use the app.
  • Processor for customer order data: the names, addresses and phone numbers on a merchant's orders. The merchant is the controller of that data, and we only process it to provide the app on the merchant's instructions.

2. What we collect

We do not collect payment card details. Shopify handles all app billing.

3. How we use data and who we share it with

We use merchant data to provide, support and improve the app, send important updates about it, and meet legal and Shopify requirements. Our legal basis is the contract you accept when installing the app, and our legitimate interest in running and improving it.

We use customer order data only to translate addresses from non-Latin scripts into Latin characters, so the merchant's orders can be shipped. We never use it for marketing, never sell it, and never combine it with other data.

We share data only with these service providers, each under a contract that protects it:

4. Transfers, retention and security

International transfers. Some of our providers process data outside the UK and EU, including in the United States and Canada. Where they do, we rely on adequacy decisions or the standard contractual clauses (and the UK addendum) built into their terms.

How long we keep data.

  • Customer order data: kept for 30 days after translation, so merchants can review results, then deleted.
  • Merchant data: kept while the app is installed. Shopify sends us a deletion request 48 hours after you uninstall, and we then delete your store's data within 30 days.
  • Support emails: kept for up to 2 years, then deleted.
  • Website analytics: kept for 14 months, Google Analytics' standard period.

Deletion and access requests. We respond to Shopify's mandatory privacy requests: a customer's request to see their data, a customer's request to delete their data, and a store's request to delete all its data. Customers should contact the merchant they ordered from, who can make the request through Shopify, or contact us directly.

Security. Data is encrypted in transit and stored with providers that use industry-standard security. Access is limited to the people who run the app, using two-step login. No system is completely secure, but we will tell affected merchants without undue delay if a breach puts their data at risk.

5. Your rights, cookies and contact

Your rights. You can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, and to object to or restrict how we use it. Merchants can also stop all processing by uninstalling the app. If you are a customer of a store using Glovokai, contact that store first, as it controls your order data; we will help it respond. We reply to requests within one month.

Complaints. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or the data protection authority where you live. We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out first.

Cookies. glovokai.com and our App Store listing use Google Analytics cookies to count visits and see how people find us. Where the law requires consent, we only set them once you agree. You can also block them in your browser settings.

Changes. We'll post any updates here and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects merchants, we'll email them before it takes effect.
